Hello, World!

For those who don't know me, I'm Dan Shive. I draw a comic called El Goonish Shive (yes, it has a horrible name).

In an effort to be able to rant online without drowning Twitter and only occasionally turning EGS:NP into a soapbox for me to stand upon, I am setting up this blog. Granted, I use EGS:NP to talk about certain things, but that limits me to talking about stuff I can make an amusing comic for, and only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's less than ideal as a genuine blog.

I am considering here as a potential place to post reviews, non-El Goonish Shive artwork, and just tons of junk in general. It's a personal-but-public blog, so there's more flexibility as to what I rant about.

Anyway, I know this is a dull first post, but I'm mostly posting this just to get a feel for the layout and to actually have something up other than white space. Go me!

So long as I'm posting, however, here's one of my few uploads to YouTube where I make a fool of myself in a local forest (mild cursing upon initial failure to record a deer):

  2. Hey, you have a blog now. Cool man.

And wow, that was a huge deer.

I once had like...a family of deer come through my back yard once, cause I live very close to the woods. It was like a buck and a doe in my backyard at the same time, which has NEVER happened before and probably won't again. It was neat. That was a good day.

  4. Hey -- long time bunny, first time writey. You'll probably get a lot of that.

Anyways, I like how in the video you apologize about not being Blair Witchy enough and then run through the forest with the camera pointed down. *smile* Also! You can actually see a glimpse of the deer in your first attempt at 1:00, but he's way off in the distance and difficult to catch.
